After JUNO cup, JUNO fest and JUNO fan fare, there's one thing left.. Which happens to be one of the biggest shows for Canadian music. Hosted by comedian Russel Peters and musician Bryan Adams, were in for a mix of music and laughs, and I'm sure they have some surprises for us as well!

JUNOS COUNTDOWN: RUSSELL PETERS & BRYAN ADAMS

With his hit singles “Wasting Gas” and “Lifted”, Dallas Smith has solidified his spot in Canadian country music. The Canadian rock/country singer-songwriter first gained popularity as lead vocalist for [alternative rock group] Default. Currently signed to 604 Records/Universal Music Canada, Smith has since then ventured into a solo career. His debut solo album, Jumped Right In, sold 100,000+ digital downloads and had five singles on the Canadian Hot 100.

 

His third and most recent album Side Effects has been nominated for Country album of the year at this year’s JUNOS. See him at Juno Fan Fare on Saturday and his live performance at the awards.

JUNOS COUNTDOWN: DALLAS SMITH

With their hit singles “Drakes Dad” and “My Hearts Always Yours”, The Arkells hold a special place in the heart’s of Canadians, and continue to top national charts. Previously touring with artists like Lights, Tokyo Police Club and fellow Canucks The Tragically Hip, the band originating from Hamilton, ON is currently touring their recently released album, “Morning Report”. 

 

Already big time winners, the five member group is nominated for Rock Album of the Year and Group of the Year at this year’s JUNO awards. The Arkells will stop in Ottawa for JUNO Fan Fare this Saturday and will be performing live at the award show.

Uploading videos to YouTube turned into huge career moves for Brampton’s Alessia Cara. Instead of college she has dedicated the last two years to music and it has sure paid off. From her first single Here to How Far I’ll Go for Disney’s Moana, the singer has soared to success.

 The star will perform her newest collaboration hit Stay this Sunday and is nominated for Pop Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, Single of the Year, and JUNO Fan Choice award.

JUNOS COUNTDOWN: ALESSIA CARA

Top charting singles like "Electric Pow Wow Drum" and "R.E.D", A Tribe Called Red mixes Indigenous culture with electronic music to create a completely unique sound. In 2013 the trio was recognized as the first Indigenous artists to win JUNO’s title of Breakthrough Group of the Year. This year, the group has been nominated for three JUNO’s; Electronic Album of the Year, Video of the Year for their single R.E.D, and Producer of the Year. A Tribe Called Red will be performing live at the show Sunday night.

Mississauga born rock band Billy Talent has found success in Canada ever since their debut album in 2003. The crew's most recent album Afraid of Heights will carry them to Europe for their upcoming tour.

​

There is no shortage of talent for the group, out of 22 JUNO nominations, the band has won 7 JUNO awards since 2004. This year, the artists are nominated for Group of the Year and Rock Band of the Year.
